FAQ

Q1. What do I need to have to view the Techcast live streaming or video archive?

You need a Web browser with Internet connection, such as Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera or Konqueror. For video display you need the Adobe Flash plugin version 9 or later. You can download the plugin from the Adobe homepage.

Q2. The video window is empty and the Flash player is not loading. What should I do?

Please check whether the Flash plugin is installed on your system and is working correctly. Open the YouTube homepage, for example, and click on a favorite video. If it does not play, check your Flash plugin installation (see Q1). If you can see the video, check that all the required ports for live transmissions are accessible (see the fifth Q5 below).

Q3. My browser is not showing the presentation slides for an event. What should I do?

Displaying the presentation slides requires JavaScript in the browser. Most browsers have JavaScript installed by default. Check your browser settings whether JavaScript might be deactivated.

Q4. The video player is loading, but nothing appears. What should I do?

In rare cases port 1935, required to transmit videos over RTMP, might be shut down by a firewall. First do a port test, as is described in Q5, then open the required ports manually or contact your company's network administrator.

Q5. How do I check if the ports required for transmission are shut down?

Open this test page in your browser and click the button “Click here to run port test.” The window below it will show the results of the test and the number for any ports that were shut down and need to be opened.
