Live Streaming from CeBIT, March 2-6, 2010
You can find the full program on the CeBIT webpage. All talks were transmitted by live streaming over the Internet, followed up by availability in our video archives.
The opening day keynote was by Germany's first open source professor, Dr. Dirk Riehle, entitled "Open Source - A New Software Development Career." The Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg had given tribute to the ever growing need for free software in the German economy by recognizing it with a new professorship chair in 2009.
A further program highlight was the keynote by Jim Zemlin, CEO of the Linux Foundation, the organization behind the free operating system that also has Linux founder Linus Torvalds among its staff. Zemlin will be talking about "All Things Linux" on Thursday, March 4.

The throng of participants at the Open Source Forum in Hall 2 also enjoyed a talk by Klaus Knopper, founder of the Knoppix Linux distribution, who presented the newest CeBIT version 6.3 of his operating system. Among the other speakers was Karsten Gerloff, president of the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE), with a talk about interoperability. Additional topics of interest from open source experts were cloud computing, security, Web 2.0, mobility and desktops.
Also on Thursday, March 4, the Linux New Media publication conferred its traditional Linux New Media Awards at the Open Source Forum in six categories. Moderated by its acting editor-in-chief, companies, projects and organizations were recognized for their particular achievements in Linux, free software and open source.
