The Linux Foundation called the first LinuxCon in Portland, OR, September 21-23. Prominent among the speakers were Linux founder Linus Torvalds and the Mark Shuttleworth, developer of the popular Ubuntu Linux.

The Apache Software Foundation (ASF) called the ApacheCon conference in Oakland November 2-6. The foundation behind the free webserver is also celebrating its tenth birthday. Techcast is telecasting the three-day conference for free on the Internet for Linux Pro Magazine.

This year's eCarTec conference, an international trade show for electronic mobility, took place in Munich for the first time. The accompanying congress with over 450 international attendees was recorded by Techcast on assignment from its organizers (Munichexpo).
